FASHION – Circular Fashion Innovation: From Surplus Resources to Scalable Solutions – one more BIP on a emergent theme
ISCAP hosted the Blended Intensive Programme (BIP) Fashion – Circular Fashion Innovation: From Surplus Resources to Scalable Solutions, an international learning experience dedicated to exploring innovative and sustainable approaches within the fashion and apparel industry.
Bringing together students and lecturers from several European higher education institutions, the programme challenged participants to address real-world sustainability issues through the lens of circular economy principles. Working in multicultural and multidisciplinary teams, students developed creative solutions capable of transforming surplus resources and industrial challenges into viable products, services, and business opportunities.
Throughout the programme, participants engaged in a combination of workshops, case study analysis, collaborative project work, mentoring sessions, and final presentations. The learning experience was structured around key themes such as circular economy in fashion production, analysis of surplus resources and industrial systems, stakeholder mapping, product and service ideation, prototyping and testing, customer journey design, circular value propositions, business model development, go-to-market strategies, and communication and storytelling.
The programme also fostered the development of essential transversal skills, including intercultural collaboration, problem-solving, teamwork in international environments, professional communication in English, and the ability to connect academic knowledge with real industry challenges.
By combining Systems Design and Design Thinking methodologies, participants were encouraged to analyse complex systems, identify opportunities for innovation, and design scalable solutions capable of creating environmental, social, and economic value.
The initiative brought together participants from BSP Business and Law School Berlin, LCI Barcelona – School of Design and Visual Arts, VIKO – Faculty of Arts and Design and ISCAP, further strengthening international cooperation and knowledge exchange among European higher education institutions.
The programme reinforced ISCAP commitment to sustainability, innovation, entrepreneurship, and internationalization, while empowering students to contribute actively to the future transformation of the fashion industry.
Special thanks are extended to all lecturers and mentors, specially professor António Oliveira, and all participants whose commitment, creativity, and collaborative spirit made this international experience both inspiring and impactful.
